1. The R-134a Refrigerant Oil Test Swab is a disposable diagnostic tool designed to check the oil level and quality in automotive air conditioning systems. Made of plastic and cotton, it provides quick visual results for R134a refrigerant-based systems.
2. How to Use:
Step 1: Start the engine and set the AC to maximum cooling.
Step 2: Ensure the compressor is running.
Step 3: After 2-3 minutes, press the swab’s nozzle against the low-pressure valve port rapidly 2-3 times.
Step 4: Interpret results and take action as needed.
3. Oil Level Diagnosis
--Less than 20% Oil: Severe deficiency – Add 70–100g refrigerant oil based on vehicle specifications.
--About 50% Oil: Mild deficiency – Add 30–40g refrigerant oil.
--About 70% Oil: Adequate – No action required.
4. Oil Quality Diagnosis:
--Normal: White to pale yellow.
--Early Degradation: Yellow/orange – Add compatible oil.
--Severe Degradation: Red/brown – Replace refrigerant and oil entirely.
5. Compatibility: R134a systems only.
6. Note: Does not work on systems with fluorescent dye additives.
