How does this attach to telescope

MiOT Store

The V15 Astronomical Telescope Digital Electronic Eyepiece is a digital electronic eyepiece with a built‑in 5″ TFT screen designed to replace a standard optical eyepiece and let you view/record the telescope image on its screen.

🔧 How it attaches to a telescope

Unlike a regular camera or smartphone adapter that sits after an eyepiece, this type of unit typically replaces the eyepiece entirely and attaches directly into the telescope’s eyepiece holder (focuser). That means:

It inserts into the focuser where you would normally put a 1.25" or 2" eyepiece.

The tapered barrel on the digital eyepiece should match the standard eyepiece size (commonly 1.25 inch / ~31.7 mm for many amateur telescopes).

You push it into the eyepiece tube and twist/secure it so it sits snugly, just as you would with a normal eyepiece.

Once attached:

Power it on (built‑in battery).

Use your telescope’s focuser knob to bring stars, planets or terrestrial objects into focus on the screen.

The built‑in screen lets you see what the telescope sees without needing a phone/computer, and many models also let you record photos/video.

💡 Note: There usually isn’t a separate mounting bracket or adapter included — it just uses the standard eyepiece tube interface. If your telescope has a different eyepiece diameter, you might need an adapter sleeve.

Let’s go step by step so you can figure out which eyepiece size your telescope uses and whether this digital eyepiece will fit.

1️⃣ Check the focuser of your telescope

The focuser is the part where you normally insert an eyepiece. It’s usually at the back of the telescope tube. Look for a tube or barrel where eyepieces slide in.

1.25-inch eyepiece: The inside diameter of the focuser is ~1.25″ (31.7 mm). This is the most common size for amateur telescopes.

2-inch eyepiece: The inside diameter is ~2″ (50.8 mm). Mostly found on larger telescopes for wide-field viewing.

📏 Tip: You can measure the tube’s inner diameter with a ruler or calipers to confirm.

2️⃣ Inspect your current eyepieces

If you have standard eyepieces, check the barrel diameter:

Most eyepieces have the size printed or engraved on the barrel (like “1.25″” or “2″”).

If your current eyepiece fits snugly into the focuser, the digital eyepiece must match the same size or use an adapter.

3️⃣ Check if your focuser has adapters

Some focusers have removable adapter sleeves:

Example: A 2″ focuser might have a 1.25″ adapter sleeve. In that case, a 1.25″ digital eyepiece can fit into the 2″ focuser using the sleeve.

If there’s no sleeve, you’ll need a matching size.

4️⃣ Confirm the telescope type

Refractor or reflector telescopes almost always use 1.25″ eyepieces for standard models.

Dobsonian or large-aperture telescopes sometimes use 2″ eyepieces.

✅ Summary for your digital eyepiece

Measure your focuser diameter or check your current eyepiece barrel.

Match the digital eyepiece size (probably 1.25″) or get an adapter sleeve if needed.

Insert and secure it in the focuser; then you’re ready to use the built-in screen.

Thank you so much for choosing MiOT Store.
