Xiaomi AI Glasses: Smart Eyewear with AI and Facial Recognition

Xiaomi has announced its first smart glasses — Xiaomi AI Glasses — combining lightweight design, functionality, and artificial intelligence technologies in a single device.

Weighing just 40 grams, the glasses are equipped with a 12MP Sony IMX681 camera capable of recording 2K video at 30 frames per second. The camera also supports facial recognition, making the gadget useful for quick visual identification.

The operation is available via voice control (XiaoAI) or manually using a touch-sensitive panel located on the right side. For audio input, the glasses feature five microphones with bone conduction and active noise cancellation technology, allowing for clear sound capture even in noisy environments.

At the core of the device is the Snapdragon AR1 processor running Xiaomi’s proprietary Vela operating system. The built-in 263 mAh battery provides up to 8.5 hours of battery life and charges via a standard USB-C port — no special dock required.

Special attention has been given to the lenses: with electrochromic technology, users can choose from three modes — transparent (for indoor use), semi-dark (for bright environments), and fully darkened (for sun protection or media viewing).

The Xiaomi AI Glasses are available in black, brown, and green. The standard version is priced at approximately $278, while the model with electrochromic lenses goes up to $420. Currently, the device is available only in the Chinese market.
